In this Listing,offer one Corning Pyrex Borosilicate Glass Carboy Shape 45.5 L- 12 Gallons with Heavy Duty Rim from the 1994s estate retired scientist . Unfortunately , I don’t know what year this vintage item was made. Borosilicate glass is a type of glass with silica and boron trioxide as the main glass-forming constituents, making these carboy Pyrex solution storage bottles more resistant to thermal shock,and can withstand temperature differential without fracturing of about 165 °C (300 °F). , ideally for solution storage and media preparation. I am not a chemist/ scientist ,but love them for vintage collectible Pyrex display. plus perfect for distilled water and standard solution storage. Unfortunately, as money gets tight, unable to continue giving to meaningful cause, I hope to sell these bottles to continue my purpose. They are beautiful memories of old world quality products. Easy to control the weighty bottle easily by using the bottleneck and thick rim.
Very nice condition, small chip,(not sharp and not deep ) near Marked “PYREX” on front, NO SIGN OF LEAKING OR CRACKING. Used condition,with hard water or solution marked stain deposits that can be dissolved with mixture of vinegar and water.

These bottles are tough enough for sodium hydroxide solution storage ,HEAVY DUTY ,TEMPERATURE RESISTANT UP TO 165 °C (300 °F).
