In all photographs , I really hope everyone can interpret the decorative foreground,mid-ground and background scenes subjectively,as our mind imaginations can be very creative.
I am doing my best objectively describing what I see of overall the foreground,mid-ground and background .
On the top of this stein mug, the sitting eagle on top center of the lid,serving as mechanism to lift up the lid ,allowing stein mug inside be inspected ,and as the decorative ornament for the specific style.

Clydesdale and eagle represent honesty, truth, majesty, strength, courage, wisdom, power and freedom. The stein mug designer seemed to give every decorative ornament two purposes, functionality and beauty. The eagle is resting on the lid,its eyes are roaming the sky regardless the lid is closed or opened,as the function of this eagle. The fleur de lis over the pewter hinge ,also as beauty and functionality for opening/closing the stein mug lid. The decorative foreground on the stein mug, beautifully molded -raised embossed Famous Clydesdale breeding horses, originated from Lanarkshire,Scotland for farm and industrial work , working as draught horses, Horse-Drawn Logging Wagon, commanding by one or two elderly logging wagon drivers.The decorative background, looking as scattering village house along the mountain sides under the cloudy day ,as the Famous Clydesdale breeds, working with their drivers ,getting horse-drawn logging wagon, full of Christmas trees like foreground.All in creamy beige colored scenery. On the opposite side of the handle, the mid ground looks as the entrance and the scenery of Budweiser Clydesdales with eight horses under the blue cloudy sky,where the road is buried with snow. Overall scenery is about the representation at the museum world famous Clydesdale .

regardless of its material or size — stein mug traditionally trademark,always has a hinged lid and a handle ornately distinctive handles and lids with design selection each year.
This World Famous Clydesdale Hitch Stein by Cremate Anheuser Busch Avon 2002”, the lid topped with ceramic rocky liked ocean scene outer looking top inside the pewter metal with lines and dog shoulder-head underneath,and sitting, with sitting eagle as lid picking up capitol. The gorgeous woven ceramic handle ,top side was pushed against the body of stein mug side body ,1-1/2” from the rim,and lower part of handle was pushed into ceramic stein mug body at about 1-1/2” from the lowest rim of stein ceramic mug . Then pewter hinged,topping with Fleur-de-lis over hinge for easy pushing the lid up or down.

Its basic tradition stein features,such as metal lid,keeping leaves,insects or any kind of foreign objects away from your favorite drinks without being disturbed outdoors whether walking along Oktoberfest beer kegs tables or outdoor entertainment,around campfire or firepit in your backyard , only sharing with someone who has up close and personal relationship. Plus the lid will reduce the heat exchange and thus keep the beer cool / hot chocolate hot for longer than the stein beer / mugs . In our modern world, the beer stein lid protects the drink from falling leaves and flying insects. The beer stein lid idea original reason was much more serous issue to resolve by the idea of establishing the stein beer mugs,going back to the plague epidemics in the 14th century, when millions of people died of black plague. After the plague, Central Europe was swarming with deadly shoals of mosquitoes. BY 16th century there was a decree that all food and drink containers required covering, protecting them from dangerous insects. The stein beer lid was introduced in 16th century. After the plague and dangerous mosquito swarms were a thing of the past, the lid remained a special detail on the massive mugs,and became the issue of privilege identification.The poorers/ lower class population felt that coasters served both purposes, as damaging surface protection and covering beers from foreign objects,flies ,leaves, uninvited guests. But it turned out to be decisive disadvantage quickly that the coasters got moist and bacteria breeding nest . The rich/ upper class population preferred beer coasters made of tin (pewter) or silver.
As a result, kind of materials used for beer mug lid, inevitably not only had a practical use, also an indication as status symbol of the upper class. When laws were intacted over stein beer mug lid(s) , the upper class, who also use the steins and lids as a kind of status symbol, came to the enjoyment of tin (pewter) lids. Stein beer mug have been well cared for as part of ceramic stein beer mug collection . I am no longer hosting socially ,as I can no long drink due to chronic pain treatment, so decided to part all over 25 years collectibles.
